Well folks…here it is! It’s the final week of the One Room Challenge! If you’ve seen Week One, Week Two, Week Three Week Four or Week Five, you know that I’ve been re-doing a bedroom. My One Room Challenge consisted of freshening up this adorable, bright bedroom. My assistant and her husband (who also happens to be my niece-in-law and nephew) moved into this adorable early 1900’s home a few months ago. The bedroom was pretty much a blank slate. Because they are both young and hip by nature, I wanted to created a stylish, modern space that felt minimal yet sophisticated. You can see that the before was very “before’y”….
Yep, that’s a before!
And now the AFTER! It’s a smaller space so we had to keep the accessories and extra pieces of furniture smaller in scale. That’s also another reason why I chose white bedding with pops of color and texture. But I couldn’t keep the entire room white! I had to add an accent wall to keep things interesting and semi dramatic. Between the amazing rug, cool lighting, rich textures and patterns and modern furniture, I can’t figure out what my favorite part of the room is.
A few things to note before you take a tour of the room.
-We needed a bed frame but not a headboard, so with a tight budget and limited time, my nephew built a pallet bed and painted it a nice bright white.
-Vintage suitcases are a great accessory to add to a space to give personality. We used stacked camel leather suitcase and displayed design magazines on them.
-If you need decorating items for shelves and such, walk around your home a few times and search cabinets and drawers. You are bound to find some treasures!
-Use rugs to add color and texture to a room.
-Don’t forget that plants are an inexpensive accessory to add to any room.
-Use wallpaper to spruce up a door instead of the traditional wall.

What an amazing transformation! A true job well done. I adore the wallpaper inset. It feels fresh and fun. The six weeks went by so fast. I completed our entry, living and dining areas in a new to us 30 year old house. So, cheers to us! Have a wonderful weekend.
