Some fantastic finds…

Monday, May 4th, 2009

I was way behind on my Google Reader so when I finally caught up today I found some fantastic finds to say the least. There are so many creative people out there and so many fabulous spaces. When you start to think that everything has been thought of you seem to find something lovely!

Yesterday is behind us and the new week has begun and what a lovely week it is going to be! Here are a few images from Mark Lund (via Ruby) that are quite cheery to begin this new week with.
Remember when I asked you what I should do with the cute paper that I bought and didn’t quite know what to do? Well, you gave me some great ideas.
I loved the mobile idea from Tal. Such a cute way to display all of the patterns. The covered letter idea from Smyrna Townie would look adorable in my playroom. {J} suggested a lovely idea including the instructions to make paper frames. ( I never expect anything less then creatively perfect from {J}.) Priscilla suggested my hubby do something with it to add texture in his art and maybe give it away in the next SG giveaway. (Not a bad idea!) Elizabeth gave me a few splendid ideas including covering drawer fronts, making envelopes and or using them as backdrops for an inspiration board. (I LOVE the drawer idea. The butterflies would look perfect.) I knew that I would get some fab ideas from all of you. Now I really don’t know what to do. I might just have to try all of these ideas!

Organize 106 (Closets)

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Closets can be our favorite space because they showcase our wardrobe that we are so proud of and those comfy sheets that cost our whole last paycheck. Or closets can become our enemy because we lose control of them and we just cant seem to gain control back. Well, your assignment is to win those spaces back!!! Whether you have a tiny closet a room sized closet, a cabinet for a closet or an armoire for a closet make that closet lovely and functional. It may take a whole day but you will feel so much better.
I found a great article at Real Simple for organizing your closets that you should check out. Its 19 organizing tricks that are sure to work. And whatever trick you choose stay consistent with your choice and make your closets beautiful!! (I will not be charging for this closet pep talk.)

Organize 102 (Bedroom)

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

This is the one room that I think (personal opinion) is overlooked the most when it comes to not only design but organization. It is always at the bottom of our list because A. we don’t think its as important as the rest of the home or B. its easier to shut the door and ignore the problem. My question to you is How do you sleep at night??? hehe. Here are some suggestions and inspiring images.
(This one is for Bandelle, Kelly, Ericka, Jane, Annie, Meagan, Naphtali, Jenny, Kalah, Teal Chic, Courtney and Suzanne.)

Keep your bedroom SIMPLE! (Easy Living)
Start using those pieces in your bedroom for actual storage. Don’t just have furniture for looks. Utilize every piece. Also utilize under your bed. Get long flat bins to put stuff in and then slide them right under. (Blueprint)

Less is better. Don’t overwhelm your bedroom space with stuff. Only allow yourself minimal pieces of furniture to allow room to breathe. Chairs are great in bedrooms but make sure they don’t become coat racks:) (Living Etc.)
Simple…. (VT Wonen)
Paper your room for visual purposes. It will add warmth and art without cluttering up your walls. (VT Wonen)
Keep your nightstand clutter free. Only allow yourself a certain amount of magazines and books by your platform bed. (Decorati)
This piece is perfect for storage and it looks fabulous. Only having a few items on top looks so nice and clutter free. (Twenty2)
If you have to have a work space in your bedroom keep the desk top almost bare with a few decorative items so it doesn’t give off the impression of an overwhelming office space.
(House to Home)
(Living Etc.)

Let your bedroom reflect you. The colors and patterns you love, your favorite scents, textiles that feel good to you. Don’t allow it to become a storage space. And don’t let it become a giant laundry basket! Sweet dreams:)

Bathrooms

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

If I had to pick the hardest space to do a simple redo it would have to be the bathroom. Unless you have lots of money to redo the floors, vanity area, bath or shower you are pretty much stuck with what you got. That is why you have to be creative. New mirrors, shower curtain, paint, wallpaper and lighting to name a few can really freshen up a space. Here are a few examples and inspirations of some gorgeous bathrooms that might inspire you to give yours a face lift.

I love wallpaper in powder rooms. Shootfactory
A massive crystal chandelier adds glamor to any bathroom. Apartment Therapy
Gray adds warmth to this bathroom while the chest gives off some great textile.
I adore this color combo.
What a perfect contrast between the floor, tub and paper. Above 3 from Living Etc.
This is one fabulous bathroom by Holly Becker! haus maus
The shower curtain is a great example of adding a pretty textile to an otherwise normal bathroom.
My favorite bathroom of all times!
Adding a statement mirror and an accent table gives this room a lived in feel.
This is just fun.
Add paper, a whimsical mirror, chandelier and you get oohlala.
Another favorite of mine.
Uniting the floor and wall with a 2 color pallet adds major drama. The whole set up is gorgeous.
Simple and serene.
Another great mirror.
I love the black and white striped rug with all of the natural elements. Above 10 from Domino
Lovely wall of mirrors.
I thought this glass ball chandelier was so clever in this bathroom.
Another great furniture piece in a bathroom.
The green textile draped over the tub is lovely!
Try painting your floor a fun pattern instead of papering your walls.
The faux wood paper looks great next to the silver basin.
Another wonderful example of a papered bathroom.
You can never go wrong with black and white. Above 8 from House to Home

Painting your cabinets a dark mocha would give an instant face lift.
This shabby chic bathroom got its look from the mirror, pendants and the simple flower arrangement. Easy transformation.

Seeing Purple

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Good Morning! Lets begin the week by examining this room. What do you think? Are you seeing purple this season??

Cocoon Chimineas

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

My posting might be a bit sporadic because I am in between internet providers. I get it installed on Thursday so in the mean time I am trying to find any signal out there…sorry neighbors:)
Anyhow, I found this adorable Cocoon Chimney. You can take away the chair, pillow and wall art and it would still be adorable. I just don’t know where I would put it. But it is adorable.

Pink Deco

I love pink powder rooms but I’m not sure what I think about this room with its strong deco paper. What do you think??
